Founded in 1987 by GroundUp's co-founder Guy Rilov, Makura farm is our inspiration, beta site and HQ for what regenerative-organic success looks like. ​

30 years of organic excellence

Makura farm, Israel's largest organic orchard farm (160Ha), grows over 15 varieties of subtropical and Mediterranean orchard crops including: avocados, persimmons, citrus, lychee and olives. It also has agro-tourism attractions with two wineries, an olive press and a restaurant.

Beta site

As a pioneering farm in Israel, Makura serves as an active testing ground for the latest farm technology and academic research for the Israeli ag-tech ecosystem. GroundUp is constantly testing an improving its best-of-breed product suite at Makura.

Paying it forward

Makura is home to Bustan Thom, an environmental, ecological and educational center, named after captain Thom Farkas, a fighter pilot that was killed in 2006. The center connects over 10,000 people yearly with the values of organic farming, man and nature.
